Encouragement Cards, Feel Good Cards, Sympathy Cards

Sending Hugs

Happy weekend!

Today I’m sharing a card using the Bouquet Builder 1 stamp set from Waffle Flower and the No Words stamp set from Neat & Tangled.

I started by stamping the largest flower image multiple times onto an A2-sized piece Strathmore Bristol Smoothe using Versafine Black Onyx ink.  I let the ink dry thoroughly and then began coloring using Arteza Violet and Pea Green Watercolor Real Brush Pens.  I applied the purple to the base of the flowers, flicking outwards, and then I used a Pentel Aquash Water Brush to pull the color out to the edges of the image.  I did the same for the leaves and then went back and added more color to intensify the areas where I wanted darker color.   To finish the card front, I scribbled the Violet pen onto an acrylic block, added a tiny bit of water, and then splattered the mixture onto the background using a small 2 round brush.

I’ve seen other cardmakers use Bristol Smoothe with watercolor brush pens so I thought I’d give it a shot, but next time I’ll use watercolor paper as I found it challenging to get the colors to move.

Using the same black ink, I stamped the sentiment onto a scrap piece of Neenah Solar White 80# Classic Crest cardstock.  Since Versafine ink has pigment properties that allow it to stay wet longer than dye inks, I was able to sprinkle clear Hero Arts embossing powder onto the sentiment and then hit it with my heat gun to add a bit of dimension and shine.

I trimmed the sentiment using a small die from the Hero Arts Infinity Nesting Rectangles die set and did the same to a piece of black Recollections cardstock, using a slightly larger die from the same die set.  I adhered the two pieces together using liquid adhesive.

To finish, I adhered the card front to an A2-sized card base and then adhered the sentiment, popping it up with foam tape.

Thanks for visiting!

You Were Born To Sparkle

Hi there!

Today’s card features the new Center Cut Star background stamp from Simon Says Stamp and the Born to Sparkle stamp set from Sunny Studio.  I just love the star shape of this background!

I started using Versamark ink and Hero Arts white embossing powder to heat emboss the background onto a piece of Strathmore Bristol Smoothe paper.

For the watercoloring, I used Champagne Gold from the Gansai Tamby Starry Colors set, and a pink Arteza Real Brush Pen marker.  I used a small Pentel Aquash waterbrush, but a regular small paint brush would have worked just as well.

While the paint was drying, I stamped the sentiment in VersaMark Black Onyx ink onto a strip of vellum, sprinkled it with Hero Arts Super Fine clear embossing powder, and hit it with my heat gun.

I trimmed the card front down to 4″ x 5.25″ and then wrapped the vellum piece around it, adhering the ends of the vellum to the back side of the card front using a Tombow Mono Dots Adhesive tape runner.

Then I used liquid adhesive to adhere the card front to an A2-sized card base and that finished up today’s card.

Thanks for swinging by!
