Hello and welcome! It’s release day at Hero Arts and we’re celebrating the new and amazing ocean-themed June release with a blog hop full of inspiration and a giveaway. If you’ve arrived from visiting Pocono Pam, you’re right on track!

This month kit features a beautiful mermaid, with hair flowing and tail shimmering. She’s accompanied by a colorful fish and jelly, with seagrass and coral surrounding her. Pearls are an accent to this kit, with an image, messages, and embellishments uniting the theme. The kit is rounded out with a Reactive Ink palette and brush, perfect for watercoloring the images or creating gorgeous underwater backgrounds.
I started off my card today by using Onyx pigment ink and clear Ultra Fine embossing powder to heat emboss the mermaid, coral, sea grass, oyster, and starfish onto watercolor paper. Then I used watercolor brush markers to color the images. It’s also really easy to use the included ink pad and brush to watercolor (first smoosh the ink onto a glass work surface, or palette, or craft mat, and then use use the water brush to pick up the pigment and paint the images. When I finished color the images, I used the coordinating dies to cut them out and then I set them aside.
For the background, I swiped Clear Embossing & Watermark ink onto the bottom of a 4.25″ x 5.5″ panel of Arctic cardstock and then heat embossed with Sand embossing powder. Then I stamped the sentiment in Onyx pigment ink at the top right of the panel.
I used glue dots and foam tape to adhere mermaid and sea life to the panel. I trimmed the coral a bit and glued extra pieces (that would have been hidden by the mermaid’s hair) to other areas of the card. To finish, I glued the card front to a card base.

My second card features some easy stamping using the Mermaid Cove stamp set. I stamped images from the set in Citrine Pigment ink and Pool Party Reactive Ink onto a 4.25″ x 5.5″ panel of Deluxe Smooth White cardstock. I trimmed 3/8″ off each the length and the width of the panel and then stamped the sentiment (from the Mermaid Wishes stamp set) in Onyx pigment ink.
I glued the panel to a slightly larger panel of Paradise cardstock and then used foam tape to adhere that panel to an A2-sized card base.
Thank you so much for visiting! Your next stop is the lovely Jennifer Kotas! Be sure to read below for giveaway details.
