Hello and welcome to the last day of the three-day countdown to tomorrow’s Hero Arts release! The new kit, which goes live at 10am PT on February 7th, is full of images that can be used to create fantastical and surrealist scenes. There’s no right or wrong and the possibilities are endless!
My card today features two images and a sentiment from the kit. I started by using Clear Embossing & Watermark ink and white embossing powder to heat emboss the door/cloud image and the sentiment onto a 4.25″ x 5.5″ panel of Lapis cardstock. Using a blending brush, I blended Indigo ink around the borders of the panel to deepen the color into a nighttime sky. I used the coordinating die to cut a piece of scrap paper which I used to mask off the door while I splattered white gouache over the panel.
Next, I used a Crystal Clear Lacquer Pen to add clear lacquer to the each cloud. While the lacquer was still wet, I sprinkled White Puff embossing powder over the clouds and then used a heat gun to melt the embossing powder. This combination of lacquer pen and embossing powder creates puff dimension that is perfect for clouds (or whipped cream or Santa’s hat’s trim or his beard!).
I stamped the ribboned moon image onto watercolor paper and colored it using watercolors that are included in the kit. When the image was dry, I cut it out using the coordinating die and then adhered it over the door. To finish, I adhered the card front to a card base.
