Fall Cards, Just Because Cards

Hello | Hero Arts September 2021 Release Blog Hop + Giveaway

Hello and welcome! It’s release day at Hero Arts and we’re celebrating the September release with a blog hop full of inspiration and a giveaway. This month’s release is full of fall goodness and the My Monthly Hero kit includes a gorgeous large floral stamp, dies, layered coloring stencils, four ink cubes, and a blending brush; an $87 value for only $34.99! If you’ve arrived from the lovely Pocono Pam’s blog, you’re right on track. If you’d like to start from the beginning, head on over to the Hero Arts blog.

Hello – September 2021 My Monthly Hero Kit

For my first card today, I colored up the large image and then held my breath and cut it in half. This is a great way to get some extra mileage out of large images!

To recreate this card:

  1. Stamp the floral image in Copic-friendly Intens-ified Black Ink onto Dove White cardstock
  2. Color the image with Copic markers; I used Y08, Y38, and YR07 for the petals, YG00, YG03, E34, E37, E47m and E49 for the flower centers, and YG13, YG17, and G28 for the leaves
  3. Use the coordinating die to cut out the image, then cut it roughly in half; I cut it at a bit of a diagonal to give the appearance of five flowers instead of just four, and to create a diagonal channel between the two sides of the finished card. Set the pieces aside
  4. Use a blending brush to blend Aquatic ink onto a 4.25″ x 5.5″ panel of Dove White cardstock, concentrating the color at the bottom of the card and letting it fade to white at the top; set aside
  5. Use sentiment dies in the set to cut the sentiment from Dove White and the its shadow layer from vellum; adhere the two pieces together
  6. Assemble the card by using foam tape to adhere the two floral pieces to the background, then use more foam tape to adhere the sentiment (I originally intended to trim that leafy bit hanging off the top of the card, but I decided that I liked it!)
  7. Adhere the card front to a card base

Happy Autumn – Autumn Branches Cover Plate

My second card features the Autumn Branches Cover Plate die and a bit of Copic coloring. The coloring on this isn’t meant to be perfectly blended, but you could certainly go all out!

To recreate this card:

  1. Use the die to cut a piece of Dove White cardstock
  2. Use Copic markers to color the die cut; I used a variety of colors from the E family; set aside
  3. Use a blending brush to blend Aquatic ink onto the top of a 4.25″ x 5.5″ panel of Paradise cardstock; concentrate the color at the top of the panel and allow it to fade out towards the middle
  4. Stamp the sentiment in Onyx pigment ink onto the panel using stamps from the Autumn Messages stamp set
  5. Adhere the die cut panel to the Paradise panel
  6. Adhere the card front to a card base

  1. Wonderful creations of color & more. I had to make choices and did not order the leaves branch die but will put on my wishlist.
