Thank you for hopping along on the HAI Supply & Pear Blossom Press Collab Hop! If you’ve arrived from Julie Ebersole’s blog, you’re right on track!
I started of my card today by creating this cute vellum rainbow using the Concord & 9th Brighter Days stamp set. I stamped the four arches of the rainbow in pigment inks one by one, inking and then heat embossing with Hero Arts Ultra Fine clear embossing powder over top. When I finished all four arches, I fussy cut the rainbow and set it aside.
Next, I used the small cloud die in the Brighter Days die set four times on white cardstock. I stacked and adhered two clouds together to create a more substantial piece, repeating with the other two clouds. Then I used tape and glue dots to attach the clouds to the ends of the rainbow.
For the background, I blended Tumbled Glass and Shaded Lilac Distress Oxide inks over the My Favorite Things Clouds stencil to create a sky full of blue and lavender clouds. Then I stamped the sentiment, from the Brighter Days stamp set, in black pigment ink.
To prep my background for Pear Blossom Press EZ-Lights, I held my rainbow/cloud piece in place and then used a pencil to make small marks where I wanted lights to shine through (behind each cloud and behind the orange arch of the rainbow). I used a craft pick to punch small holes in the background and then pushed lights just barely through each little hole. On the back side, I used paper tape to tape down the wires to each light so that they don’t move. Then I added a whole mess of paper tape to hold down the rest of the wires, finally slipping the battery into the battery casing before taping it down. I positioned it so that the button on the battery casing sits behind the left cloud.
Next I added a double-layer of foam tape around the borders of the panel and then I adhered the card front to an A2-sized card base.
To finish, I added a little pink heart from the HAI Supply Mix Red Heart Drops mix to indicate where to push. I also some Mixed Clear Droplets.
I was really impressed by how easy it was to create this light up card. All I had to was slip in the battery, position the lights, and then hide the extra pre-connected wires!
