Just Because Cards, Summer Cards

Hey Sunshine! | A Blog Named Hero June Challenge

ABNH 2020-06 Seeka 1

Hi there, it’s the 15th which means there’s a new challenge over on A Blog Named Hero!  This month’s theme is “Combine Old & New.”

ABNH 2020-06For this theme, I combined the older Sunburst Bold Prints background stamp with a new die from the June 2020 My Monthly Hero Kit.  The kit has sold out, unfortunately, but I think any standalone scene die (like this cute bicycle!) would pair well.

I began by using Clear Embossing & Watermark ink and white embossing powder to heat emboss the background onto an A2-sized piece of Strathmore Bristol Smooth cardstock.  Then, using foam blending tools, I blended Squeezed Lemonade, Wild Honey, and Carved Pumpkin inks over the embossed pattern.  I started in the middle with Squeezed Lemonade, then moved to Carved Pumpkin around the outer edge of the “sun.” and then blended the two towards each other, and adding Wild Honey where they met.

Next, I partially cut the lighthouse and rocky shore from another piece of bristol smooth cardstock.  I used clear tape on the back of the die cut piece to hold the little squiggles cut out of the hill in place (but I did poke out the windows from the lighthouse).  I backed this piece with foam tape and adhered it to the background.

Then, I stamped a sentiment from the Many Everyday Messages stamp set in black ink onto a strip of bristol smooth.  I adhered this strip to another, slightly taller, strip and then adhered the combined piece to the card front.

To finish, I adhered the card front to an A2-sized card base.

Thanks so much for visiting!
