Hello there, I hope you’re having a great day!
Today I’ve got a quick and easy card made with a bit of ink blending and some glimmer paste. I haven’t used pastes much so I kept this card very simple so there’d be fewer opportunities for things to go awry ;p
I made a video clip of the process so be sure to check out the end of this post, or visit me on Instagram!
I started by using a heart from the Sorry die set by The Stamp Market to die cut a piece of Strathmore Bristol Smooth cardstock and then used paper tape to temporarily hold the heart inside of the negative space so that I would have some extra space to hold on to while I was ink blending.
Using foam blending tools, I blended Seedless Preserves, Abandoned Coral, Mustard Seed, and Scattered Straw Distress Inks onto the heart, not worrying too much about getting a perfect blend between colors because I knew the glimmer paste would distract from any imperfections.
Once I finished blending, I used an offset spatula to smooth a thin layer of Moonstone Nuvo Glimmer Paste over the heart and then set it aside to dry. I realized a little late that the wetness of the paste reacts with the Distress inks so I had to take care not to accidentally drag paste from the dark purple areas over the lighter areas because the paste was picking up a bit of the ink beneath it.
For the sentiment, I used Wow! Embossing Pad and white Hero Arts Embossing Powder to heat emboss a phrase from the The Stamp Market’s Big Botanicals stamp set onto a strip of black cardstock.
To add some sturdiness to the heart, I die cut two more hearts and then layered and stacked all three hearts together and then began assembling the card. I adhered the heart to a 4bar size card base and then added some foam squares to one end of the sentiment strip and adhered it halfway over the heart.
Thank you so much for visiting!
