You Were Cut Out For Greatness!

Hi there, I hope you’ve had a nice weekend and that your week gets off to a great start!

I’ve got a stressful Monday coming up but I’m just hanging on to the fact that the part that I’m most worried about will be over by late afternoon.  After that, I’ll have a couple more crazy days at work and then I’m off to Ohio for a crafty weekend!

When I saw this Crafty Notes stamp set from Gina K. Designs, I knew I had to have it.  I have a few sets with crafty sentiments but none with lovely little line drawings to go with punny sentiments.

I started by using the My Favorite Things Stitched Heart Stax die set to die cut two hearts out Strathmore Bristol Smooth cardstock.  Then I used Wow! Embossing Pad and white Hero Arts embossing powder to heat emboss the sentiment.

I used Carved Pumpkin, Abandoned Coral, and Picked Raspberry Distress Ink mini ink cubes to swipe on stripes of color on the smaller heart.  I went direct to paper because I knew I wanted very saturated color and also because the coating on Bristol Smooth paper lets the ink sit on top of the paper for a bit, giving you ample time to blend.  Using foam blending tools, I blended where each pair of colors met and then used tamping motions to build up more color and to get a better blend.

For the larger heart, I used Picked Raspberry and Festive Berries this time going direct-to-paper just around the outer edge of the heart.  I blended and intensified the colors with foam blending tools and then let both hearts dry for a bit while I worked on the scissors.

I stamped the scissors in Copic-friendly Hero Arts Intense Black ink onto Neenah Solar White 80# Classic Crest cardstock.  I colored them with C2, C3, and C5 and then used a Brother ScanNCut2 to cut them out.

To assemble the card, I backed the smaller heart with foam tape and then adhered it to the larger heart.  Then I adhered the large heart to an A2-sized piece of Neenah.  I cut some small pieces of foam tape to support the ends of the scissors and then adhered them over the two hearts.  Finally, I adhered the card front to an A2-sized card base.

Thanks so much for visiting!
