Hello and happy Friday, lovelies!
Today’s card uses a a few holiday sets from Simon Says Stamp. It’s a little late to mail holiday cards but better late than never, right?
I started by using Copic-friendly Hero Arts Intense Black ink to stamp the ornaments from the Simon Says Stamp Ornate Ornaments stamp set and the sentiment from the Stained Glass Greetings stamp set onto Neenah Solar White 80# Classic Crest cardstock. I used a Misti stamping tool and boy am I glad I did, and that I left the stamps in place, because I decided after-the-fact to heat emboss everything.
I used R22, R24, and R27 for the reds, and BG10, BG23, and BG15 for the blues. For each section of the ornaments, I started with a layer of the lightest color, and then gradually layered in the darker colors. For the ornament with circles, I added layers of the darker colors around the outer edge of the circles, and then went back and blended just a tad with the lightest color. Similarly, for the two other ornaments, I added layers of the darker colors along the seams of the ornaments, and then went back in with the lightest color to blend a bit.
I used the same colors for the sentiment, but just did some very simple and barely noticeable blending.
When I was done coloring, I decided that instead of black ink outlines, it would be nice to heat emboss. So, I treated my colored panels with an anti-static powder tool, and then put them back into the Misti and stamped over the black ink with Wow Embossing Pad ink. I poured gold Ranger Super Fine embossing powder over the ornaments and then hit them with a heat gun.
I used a Brother ScanNCut2 to cut out the ornaments (and the coordinating die to cut out the sentiment) and then I tied some fine gold thread at the top of each ornament. To help the thread stay in place, I used small scissors to snip little slits into each side of the ring so that I could slip the thread into the slits.
I used the largest of the My Favorite Things Stitched Rectangle Stax die set to trim a piece of Neenah Solar White. Then I backed all of the ornaments and the sentiment with foam tape and adhered them to the panel. To finish, I adhered the card front to an A2-sized card base.
Thank you so much for visiting!
