Birthday Cards

Happy Happy Birthday

Hi there!  I’m super behind on posts since I was out of town over the weekend and didn’t have any downtime to like I thought I would.  In 60 hours I flew roundtrip to Florida squeezed in breakfasts and dinners with crafty friends and went to two days of The Coloring Challenge Roadtrip hosted by Kathy Racoosin at My Favorite Things.  It was an amazing weekend!

Since I’m still sleep deprived, I made a very quick and easy card today with Distress Ink blending which I always find very soothing.

I started by heat embossing the sentiments from the Avery Elle Big Birthday stamp set using Versamark ink and white Hero Arts embossing powder onto an A2-sized piece of Strathmore Bristol Smooth cardstock.

Then I used foam blending tools to blend Peacock Feathers, Mermaid Lagoon, and Wilted Violet Distress Inks onto the panel.  Because Bristol cardstock is coated, the ink stays on the surface of the paper longer and it’s easy to wipe color away as your blending.  So, after I put down an initial layer of color, I used a tamping motion rather than a swiping motion to add intensity and the blend the colors where they overlap.

To finish, I adhered the panel to an A2-sized card base.

Thanks for coming by!
