Hi there, I hope your weekend is getting off to a great start! I’m off to color with Kathy Racoosin at her Coloring Challenge Roadtrip at Concord & 9th. I’m so excited to get to go to another roadtrip and make new crafty friends!
Today I’m sharing a friendship card, fitting since I have met so many wonderful people through card making these past six months!
I started by using VersMark ink and white Hero Arts embossing powder to heat emboss the Etched Flowers background stamp from My Favorite Things onto an A2-sized piece of Canson XL watercolor paper.
Then I used painter’s tape to tape the panel down to my work surface. Using a flat brush, I wet panel down with clean clear water. I then gently dusted the panel with Catherine Wheel Nuvo Shimmer Powder and used a round 8 paintbrush to gently move the color around without blending it too much. Catherine wheel is a beautiful mix of pinks, oranges, and yellows and I wanted a lot of color variation which is why I didn’t blend. In some empty areas, I added sprinklings of Solar Flare powder which is a bright yellow with golden shimmer.
While the panel was drying, I used a Friend die from My Favorite Things (this was a free-with-$60 bonus and I’m sorry to say that I can’t find this on their website right now) and die cut the sentiment three times from white cardstock. I adhered the layers together and set them aside.
When the background panel was dry, I trimmed it to 4″ x 5.25″ and adhered it to an A2-sized card base. Then I used the negative die cut to space and adhere the “friend” letters, and that finished up the card!
Thank you so much for swinging by!
