Happy Monday! I hope you had a great weekend and are looking forward to a short work week like I am!
Today’s card features the Garden Grow stamp set from Altenew and the Cloud stencil from My Favorite Things. As I’m still relatively new to cardmaking, I had never seen this stamp set before. But, a new crafty friend that I met at The Coloring Challenge Roadtrip on Saturday had this set with her that day and I got to stamp a few images to bring home to color.
I stamped the image in Copic-friendly Gina K. Designs Almalgam black ink onto Neenah Solar White #80 Classic Crest cardstock. Then when I got home, I sat down to color. I used E35, E37, and YR24 for the bench and pots. I used YG17, YG21, and YG23 for the greenery, R30 and R35 for the flowers, and C1, C3, and C5 for the watering can.
For the background, I used Salty Ocean Distress ink to create clouds with the stencil. Then I used the two browns, E35 and E37 to create a mound of dirt where the bench would sit. I very loosely blended the colors and then used a technique that Kathy Racoosin shared on Saturday. In fact, I used a clipping from her rag which she generously allowed attendees to cut from. I bundled up a small area of the square of rag to created a small dauber-shaped area. I added a few drops of Copic Blending Solution to the dauber-like area and then held it to the brown area briefly. I moved across the brown area and was left with some fun texture which, to me, resembles sand or dirt. To prevent the blending solution from fading out, and to keep the texture sharp, I quickly hit the panel with a heat gun.
Then I adhered the colored images with foam tape for dimension and stamped the sentiment in Versafine Onyx Black ink. Lastly, I adhered the card front to an A2-sized card base.
Thank you so much for visiting!
