Animal Cards, Birthday Cards

Happy Birthday

Hi there!

Today’s card uses a few products from My Favorite Things: the Bitty Bears stamp set, the Snowfall Background cling stamp, and the Inside and Out Stitched Squares die set.  I thought I’d combine two MFT challenges in one card, the MFT Sketch Challenge, and the Birthday Challenge.

I started by stamping the background stamp in VersaMark ink onto an A20-sized piece of Strathmore Bristol Smoothe cardstock.  I poured Hero Arts white embossing powder over top and then hit it with my heat gun.  Then, using a foam blending tool, I blended on Broken China Distress Ink, fading out to white on the righthand side of the card.  When I was finished blending, I used a clean paper towel to gently wipe off any ink that was sitting on top of the heat embossing to restore the bright white of the heat embossing.

20180624_214442I stamped the bears onto Neenah Solar White #80 Classic Crest cardstock in Copic-friendly Hero Arts Intense Black ink.  The bears’ fur is a blend of E53, E35. and E37.  The balloon and cupcake icing are blends of R20, R22, and R24.  And the cupcake wrapper is a blend of BG72 and BG75.  I cut out the bears with a Brother ScanNCut2 and set them aside.

To create the stitched frames, I used washi tape to temporarily tape together the third and fourth largest dies from the die set and then ran them through my Big Shot twice, over Neenah Solar White.  The result was two frames which I popped up with foam tape and adhered to the background.

I then stamped the sentiment in Versafine Onyx Black ink and adhered foam tape to the back of the strip and adhered it over the top frame.  I also used foam tape to pop up the two bears.  Finally, I adhered the card front to an A2-sized card base and that finished up the card.

Thanks so much for visiting!
