Hero Arts Winter 2021 Catalog Release Blog Hop + Giveaway

Hi there and welcome!

The new Hero Arts 2021 Holiday Catalog is live and we’re celebrating with a blog hop full of inspiration and a giveaway. If you’ve arrived from Pocono Pam’s blog, you’re right on track. If you’d like to start from the beginning, head on over to the Hero Arts blog.

I’ve got four cards to share today so let’s dive right in!

We Wish You A Merry Christmas

My first card features the Christmas Robins stamp set and coordinating dies against a backdrop made using the Slimline Christmas and New Year Cover Plate. To recreate this card:

  1. Stamp the robin, birdhouse, and greenery in Copic-friendly Intens-ified Black Ink onto Dove White cardstock
  2. Color the images; I used E70, E74, E77, and E79 for the robin’s darker, feathers, with E51 and a bit of R30 for its belly, YG03 and YG17 for the greens, R21, R14, and R29 for the reds, BG000 the blue bird house trim, and T4 and T6 for interior of the birdhouse
  3. Cut out the images using the coordinating dies; set aside
  4. Use only the top portion of the slimline cover plate to die cut a piece of Coral cardstock; do this by allowing the lower half of the die to hang outside of the die cutting plate sandwich so that the bottom half of the patter isn’t cut into the cardstock
  5. Back the die cut background with foam tape and adhere to a panel of Arctic cardstock
  6. Use more foam tape to adhere the birdhouse and bird
  7. Use glue to adhere the leafy pieces, tucking them behind the birdhouse
  8. Adhere the card front to a card base

Joy & Peace

My second card features the Christmas Rose stamp set and coordinating dies with a background made with the String Dots Bold Prints stamp. To recreate this card:

  1. Heat emboss the large floral image onto watercolor paper using Onyx pigment ink and clear Ultra Fine embossing powder
  2. Watercolor the image using liquid watercolors: Pink for the large blooms, Moss and Pine for the leaves, and Mulled Wine for the berries and small blooms
  3. Cut out the image using the coordinating die; set aside
  4. Stamp the String Dots background, two or three times, in Clear Embossing & Watermark ink onto a 4.25″ x 5.5″ panel of Mist cardstock to create a tone-on-tone pattern
  5. Stamp the sentiment in Onyx pigment ink
  6. Adhere the floral piece using foam tape
  7. Adhere the card front to a card base

Merry Christmas

My third card features the Looking Glass Winter Forest die set with a subtle background using the Color Layering Snowflake stamp set. To recreate this card:

  1. Use the Alignment Tool stencil to align each die in the set over the same relative area of an A2-sized panel of cardstock; use Dove white cardstock for the deer layer, Sand cardstock for the tree layer, and Meadow cardstock for the tree layer
  2. Turn the trees white-ish by using a sponge dauber to dab Unicorn pigment ink over them
  3. Add snow to the treetops by dabbing Clear Embossing & Watermark ink over them and heat embossing with White Puff embossing powder
  4. Stamp snowflakes from the Color Layering Snowflake stamp set in Soft Pool ink over the white deer panel
  5. Stamp the sentiment in Onyx pigment ink
  6. Adhere the three panels together, adding a fourth panel of Arctic cardstock as the bottom layer
  7. Adhere the card front to a card base

Happy Holidays To You & Yours

My last card features the Happy Holidays cover plate. To recreate this card:

  1. Cut strips of Coral, Peony, Arctic, Mist, and Paradise cardstocks in varying widths
  2. Cover a panel of white cardstock with tape runner, then adhere the strips of cardstock
  3. Use the Happy Holidays cover plate to die cut the panel
  4. Use double-sided tape to adhere a panel of acetate to the back of the die cut panel
  5. Add a double layer of foam tape to the outer edges of the back of the piece; leave the release paper on for the moment
  6. Keeping the panel face down, pour Snow and Berries sequin mix into the well created by the foam tape
  7. Remove the release paper and place a 4.25″ x 5″ panel of white cardstock over top, sealing in the sequins (if I were to make this card again, I’d use a piece of Arctic cardstock instead of white, so that the very pretty snowflakes in the mix are more visible!)
  8. Adhered the card front to a card base
