I have a bunch of cards to share today so I’ll dive right in!
Hugs | Just A Card To Say Hello
My first set of cards features the beautiful new Magnolia Ballerina stamp set and the coordinating coloring stencils (also available as a bundle with coordinating dies, and also bundled with the dies and a coordinating embossing folder).
I love this this large floral which makes it so easy to cover a card front. Because the image itself is complex with so many petals, I kept the rest of the cards quite simple.
For the “Hugs” card, I simply stamped the image in Permanent Black ink on three separate 4.25″ x 5.5″ panels of white cardstock (I used a stamp positioning tool to make sure that the image was positioned the same way on each panel). Two of the panels were used for this card, the third was used for the next card. Then, I used the layering coloring stencils and small blending tools to color the image on one panel. For the petals, I used Sunkissed, Coral Berry, Ruby Red, and Grapevine inks. For the stems, I used Mocha.
I stamped the sentiment in black pigment ink and then trimmed 3/8″ off both the length and the width of the panel. Then, I used foam tape to adhere the panel over the other stamped panel, aligning the image so that it appears as if the flowers continue in black in white on the base panel. To finish, I adhered the card front to a card base.
For the second card, I stamped the floral image onto masking paper and the fussy cut the image. I placed the mask over the stamped image on the third panel I stamped earlier, and then I masked off the borders of the panel. Using large blending tools, I blended Sunkissed, and Coral Berry over the exposed area of the panel, blending the colors together into a peach where they met. Next, I removed the masks, stamped the sentiment, and adhered the card front to a card base.
Happy Birthday
My next card features the Starlight die.
For this clean and simple card, I used the die to cut white cardstock and then used a small blending tool to blend Ultraviolet ink over die cut, concentrating the color at the center of the medallion and letting it fade towards the outer edges.
I adhered the die cut to a white rounded rectangle that I created using the Rounded Rectangles die set, and then used foam tape to adhere it to a card base. I added a white heat embossed sentiment on black cardstock (this sentiment is from the Sentiment Strips 3 stamp set). To finish, I glued a few clear jewel embellishments to the die cut.
Just A Card To Say Hello
My third card features the Edged Wildflower die. For this quick card, I sprayed a 4.25″ x 5.5″ panel of white cardstock with a bright pink ink spray, concentrating the color on one side of the panel. Next, when the panel was dry, I trimmed 1/4″ inch off the length and the width. I use the die to cut the panel and then used foam tape to adhere it to a card base. To finish, I stamped the sentiment (from the Magnolia Ballerina stamp set) in black pigment ink.
You’re So Thoughtful
My last cards feature the Wispy Feathers die set. I die cut multiple feathers from heavy white cardstock and then got out some gel printing plates and acrylic paints. For the fuchsia card, I dabbed Dina Wakley Fuchsia paint and Golden Acrylic Medium Magenta paint onto the gel plate and then used a brayer to spread the color (I took care not to over blend because I like the splotchy color variation). While the paint was still wet, I placed the die cuts onto the gel plate and gently brayered over them once to make sure they made good contact with the plate. I pulled away the die cuts and then let the paint dry.
I repeated the process on another plate, this time using Dina Wakley Turquoise and Peacock paints and more feather die cuts.
When the colorful inks were dry on the plate, I brayered Golden Acrylic Iridescent Bright Gold (Fine) paint over the fuschia plate and then quickly placed white cardstock over it. I rubbed over the paper to make good contact with the plate and then lifted the paper away, pulling the pattern with it. I repeated this with the turquoise plate, but this time with Golden Acrylic Iridescent Gold (Fine), which is more of a champagne gold.
To finish, I wrapped sentiments (from the Altenew Paint-A-Flower: African Daisy Outline Stamp Set) that I’d heat embossed onto vellum around the panels and then adhered the card fronts to card bases.
