Hello and welcome, I’m so glad you’re here! We’re celebrating the release of the new Altenew Paint-A-Flower: Dahlia Bright Eyes Outline Stamp Set! If you arrived from wonderful Jenny Colacicco’s blog, you’re right on track. If you want to hop along from the beginning, please visit the Altenew Card Blog. Be sure to check the bottom of this post for giveaway information and the full blog hop list.
This beautiful image with its large petals was fun and easy to color and filled up a card front so nicely!
I started off by using a bright gold embossing powder to heat emboss the floral image onto watercolor paper. Since the stems were a bit short for my composition, I used an embossing pen to extend them to the edge of the panel.
Next, I used watercolors from the Altenew Artists’ Watercolor 24 Pan Set to color the image. I used clean clear water to cover the petals and then dropped in some very diluted Summer Afternoon yellow. Then I dropped in some Tea Party pink and Red Cosmos towards the center of the flowers and let the yellows and pinks and reds blend for a pretty peachy blend.
I darkened the centers of the flowers with dots of concentrated Red Cosmos and then colored in the leaves with Tropical Forest.
When the panel was dry, I stamped the sentiment in black pigment ink and then adhered the card front to a card base.
Thank you so much for visiting! Your next stop is the amazing Tenia Nelson. Be sure to check below for information about the giveaway and for the full blog hop list!
