Hello and welcome, I hope you’re having a great day! We’re celebrating the release of the new Altenew Build-A-Flower: Narcissus stamp and die set! If you arrived from super-talented Nathalie DeSousa’s blog, you’re right on track. If you want to hop along from the beginning, please visit the Altenew Card Blog. Be sure to check the bottom of this post for giveaway information and the full blog hop list.

I started off my card today by stamping the outlines of the flowers in Permanent Black ink onto white cardstock. Next, I stamped the three layers of the petals (the ones that extend out from the center of the flower) in Soft Lilac, Wisteria, and Hydrangea Crisp Dye Inks. Then I stamped the three layers of the inner flower shifting to a slightly darker set of purples: Wisteria, Hydrangea, and Ultraviolet. I finished by coloring in the stamen with a yellow marker; the stamp set does come with stamps to finish off this small detail but sometimes I find it easier to use a marker.
I decided to forego leaves and instead just stamped three stems using Permanent Black ink as the outline layer and Bamboo and Lime as the color layers. With the layering stamping done, I used the coordinating dies to cut all the images and then set them aside.
To create the background, I used Post-it Tape to mask off the borders of an A2-sized piece of white cardstock. Next, I used Large Blending Tools to blend Limeade and Sea Breeze onto the exposed area of the panel, bringing Sea Breeze about two-thirds down the panel and blending it lightly into Limeade.
Next, I used glue only behind the very centers of each flower to adhere them to the background. Then I added small bits of foam tape behind the tips of the petals to lift them away from the panel. I didn’t remove the last of the release paper so the petals are not anchored down to the panel; I love how this produces more organic dimension! I adhered the stems flush to the panel and trimmed off the ends that hung over the edge.
To finish, I stamped “you” in black pigment ink and then added a white-on-black heat-embossed sentiment with foam tape before adhering the card front to a card base.
Thank you so much for visiting! Your next stop is the lovely Terri Koszler. Be sure to check below for information about the giveaway and for the full blog hop list!

That is a really cool 3-D technique you did. It is so funny if there are leaves I must do them–but not you! Lol. Love it.
