To start off my card today, I stamped the large floral image in Permanent Black ink onto a 6″x6″ piece of white cardstock.
Next, I used the coordinating layering stencils, large and small blending brushes, and inks to color the image. I added some depth and dimension by using light and dark colors in the same layer, using the dark colors to add shading. And, when I wanted some images that were on the same stencil to be a different color than the others, I used small bits of Post-it tape to loosely mask off those areas while I blended one color, and then I reversed the mask to blend the next color. Here are the colors I used:
- Sunflower and small flower petals (light layers): Fresh Lemon, Honey Drizzle, Maple Yellow (also available as part of a set)
- Sunflower and small flower petals (darker layers): Chamomile, Snapdragon, Marigold (also available as part of a set)
- Sunflower and small flower centers: Mocha, Espresso (also available as part of a set)
- Tulips: Soft Lilac, Lavender Fields, Deep Iris (also available as part of a set)
- Leaves: Parrot, Fresh Leaf, Shadow Creek
This image came together so beautifully and easily!
I used the coordinating die to cut out the image and then further trimmed the image to fit onto a 4.25″ x 5.5″ card.
Using the curves of floral image as a guide, I used a large blending tool to blend Aqualicious ink onto a 4.25″ x 5.5″ piece of white cardstock so that when the floral piece was placed on top it would look like a blue sky was glowing from behind the flowers. I left just a bit of white space to create a bit of depth.
Then, I stamped the sentiment in black pigment ink.
To assemble the card, I used foam tape to adhere the floral piece over the ink-blended background and then I adhered the card front to an A2-sized card base.
