Birthday Cards

Let’s Get The Paw-ty Started | Hero Arts June My Monthly Hero Countdown + Giveaway

Hi there and welcome, I’m glad you’re here!

Today is the first day of the three-day countdown to Monday’s Hero Arts April release. The new kit and add-ons go live on Monday at 10am Pacific time!

If you’ve seen any of my Instagram stories (I’m @skypaperscissors over there) then you may know that my boy cat LOVES pastry. He harasses me every weekend morning and tries to bulldoze through anything between him and my dish! So, this card is inspired by him, because I’m pretty sure this is what he dreams about 🙂

I started off by stamping the cat, party hat, and cake in Copic-friendly Intens-ified Black ink onto Dove White cardstock. I colored up the kitty using E30, E31, E35, and E37. Then I colored the blues and pinks on the cake and party hat using BG10, BG11, and BG13 and R21, R22, and R24, respectively. For the cake itself, I used YR32 and YR21, and I finished with a bit of FY1 for the candle flames. I used the coordinating dies to cut out the images and then set them aside.

Next, I created an pink ink-blended panel by using a blending brush to blend Cotton Candy ink over a the bottom half of a small panel of Dove White cardstock. Then, I used a die from the Rounded Rectangles Infinity Dies set to cut the panel. I used the next largest rounded rectangle die in the set to cut a panel of Paradise cardstock. I adhered the two pieces together and then adhered the cat and party hat with adhesive dots, and the cake with foam tape.

For the background, I stamped the balloon stamp from the kit to multiple times in Tide Pool ink over an A2-sized piece of Dove White. Then I stamped the sentiment in Onyx pigment ink.

To assemble the card, I adhered the kitty panel to the background and then adhered the card front to a card base.

Thank you so much for visiting!

  1. I love the term “pawty” in regards to animal celebration cards. I don’t have a sentiment stamp that says that. It absolutely suits this fun card you’ve made. This set is on the list for sure.

  2. Hello from Malta, NY. Love your card, that would be me holding a chocolate cake. Yummy. I love you background, I keep on forgeting about creating my own background. It’s so easy to do and makes the card stand out. Need to remember to do this more.
