When It’s Dark, Look For The Stars | Tonic Studios Shoot For The Stars Blog Hop + Giveaway

Hello and happy Friday! Today, Tonic Studios is celebrating their exclusive Stamp Club Shoot For The Stars stamp and die release with a blog hop and giveaway. This starry stamp and die bundle is inspired by Maria Willis. If you’ve arrived from Marie’s blog, you’re right on track! If you’d like to start at the beginning, head on over to visit Maria.

I started off by creating the ink-blended sky. I used foam blending tools to blend Chipped Sapphire, Blueprint Sketch, Broken China, and Salvaged Patina Distress Oxide inks onto a 4.25″ x 5.5″ panel of Strathmore Bristol Smooth cardstock.

While the panel was drying, I used the two mountain dies from the die set to cut pieces of dark gray cardstock. I used a foam blending tool to add a bit of Hickory Smoke and Black Soot Distress Oxide Inks to the mountain ranges. Next, I treated the shorter mountain range with an anti-static embossing powder bag and then heat embossed the sentiment using Wow! Embossing Pad and white embossing powder.

When the background panel was dry, I heat embossed the shooting star image three times.

To assemble the card, I used glue to adhere the taller mountain range to the background and then used foam tape to adhere the mountain range in the foreground. Next, I trimmed 3/8″ off the length and width of the panel and then adhered it to a 4.25″ x 5.5″ panel of the same gray cardstock. To finish, I adhered the card front to a card base.

    Wonderful job. Looks like shooting stars. Love that there are several – at different spots – like it usually happens. Great effects.

  14. Nice card. The shading on the back mountain is great. It really gives it depth. Love the shooting stars. One of my favorite things to see in real life.
