Hello, lovely!

Today I’m excited to be part of Altenew’s annual Celebrating Parents Card Drive Blog Hop. If you arrived from Sandra Woodson’s blog, you’re right on track. Altenew’s goal is to collect cards to send to the elderly living in nursing homes or shelters to let them know they’re not forgotten. Be sure to check the Celebrating Parents Card Drive page for information about how you can contribute and join this great cause by sending in cards. In addition, for each stamp set purchased from the list of sets below, between 3/6/2021 and 5/31/2021, Altenew will donate $1 to the Food Bank of Central New York to support seniors in need.

I started my card by stamping the bloom and leaf outline images from the Book Engravings stamp set in Permanent Black ink onto white cardstock (I use Neenah Solar White 80# Classic Crest). Next, I stamped the layers of the blooms in Frosty Pink, Coral Bliss, and Sunray. For the leaf detail layer, I used Sea Glass. I used the coordinating dies to cut out the images and then set them aside.

Next, I stamped the sentiment (which is from the Build-A-Flower: Bellaroma Hybrid Tea Rose stamp and die set) in the same black ink onto a 4.25″ x 5.5″ inch panel of white cardstock. When the ink had dried, I used a bit of Post-it Tape to mask the sentiment before splattering the panel with a bit of watered-down black gouache.

I let the splatter dry, removed the Post-it Tape, and then began to arrange the blooms and leaves. I adhered the base of each leaf cluster to the background using liquid glue, leaving the tips of the leaves free. Next, I used glue dots at the base of each small bloom to adhere them over the leaves. Then, I added the large bloom with foam tape. Finally, I went back to the leaves and the small blooms to add one small bit of foam tape beneath each outermost edge in order to give them the appearance of curling up and away from the background.

To finish, I adhered the card front to a card base.
