Stay Awesome My Friend | Altenew Craft-A-Flower: Cosmos Layering Die Set Release Blog Hop + Giveaway

Hello there, I hope you’re having a nice weekend!

Today we’re celebrating the Altenew Craft-A-Flower: Cosmos Layering Die Set release. If you arrived from Christine Pennington’s blog, you’re right on track. If you want to hop along from the beginning, visit the Altenew Card Blog. Check the bottom of this post for the full blog hop list!

Stay Awesome My Friend

I started off my first card by cutting out all the layers of the blooms, using three shades of pink/violet cardstock for the petals, and orange and yellow for the flowers’ centers. I adhered the layers together, following the guide on the stamp set insert. Then, I cut the stems and leaves from a bright green cardstock.

Next, I created a background by using a large blending tool to blend Snapdragon Crisp Dye Ink onto an A2-sized piece of white cardstock, concentrating the color at the top of the panel and letting it fade to white about two-thirds of the way down. To intensify the color at the top, I blended a bit of Marigold Crisp Dye Ink (these two colors also come in a set of cubes and in a full-size pad set).

and then I trimmed the panel down to 4″ x 5.25″.

To assemble the card, I adhered the blooms with foam tape to the background and then used liquid glue to adhere the stems and leaves, layering them over each other. I adhered a stamped sentiment strip (the sentiment is from the Leaf Canopy stamp set) with foam tape and then used more foam tape to adhere the panel to an A2-sized white card base.

So Thankful For You

For my second card, I used the same cardstock colors as my first card and added a darker green for some of the stems and leaves.

This time, for the background, I ink-blended Sea Breeze Crisp Dye Ink onto a white cardstock panel and deepened the color near the top with a bit of Turquoise Crisp Dye Ink (these two colors also come in a set of cubes and in a full-size pad set).

For the splatter, I put a couple of drops of Ultramarine liquid watercolor (also available in a marker in this set) onto my glass work surface and used a small round paint brush to splatter the color over the top part of the panel. Then I diluted the color in my work surface with a drop or two of clean clear water and added more splatters to the bottom half of the panel.

To assemble the card, I used a combination of liquid glue and foam tape to adhere the blooms, stems, and leaves, and then I added sentiment strip (the sentiment is from the Needlework Motif stamp set). To finish, I adhered the card front to a card base.

  1. Beautiful cards. Love the colors of the blooms and the background on each card is so lovely. The first one makes me think of a sunrise with the flowers reaching for the sky. Love the ink splatter on the second card too. Thanks for sharing your talent and ideas with us. )
