It’s release day at Hero Arts and we’re celebrating the new October release with a blog hop and giveaway. If you’ve arrived from Pocono Pam’s blog, you’re right on track. If you’d like to start from the beginning, head on over to the Hero Arts blog.
This month’s My Monthly Hero kit is so versatile (and the kit is always a great deal) and today I have a fun shaker card to share!

I started off by using the ornament die and the oval die to cut out an ornament frame from Paradise cardstock, which I set aside. Then I used just the oval die to cut a hole from a 4.25″ square piece of Arctic cardstock.
In each corner of the square panel, I used Embossing & Watermark ink and white embossing powder to heat emboss some of the snowflakes from the kit. Next, I used a blending brush to blend Pool Party Reactive ink onto the panel, concentrating the color at the four corners, over the snowflakes. Then I splattered both the panel and the ornament frame with White Glimmer Metallic ink.
While the splatter was drying, I heat embossed Santa and his reindeer onto a piece of Paradise cardstock and then die cut the image out. Then I stamped the sentiment in INTENS-ified Black ink onto 4.25″ square panel of Dove White cardstock.
Next, I began assembling the card. I adhered the ornament frame to the snowflake panel and then used double-sided tape to adhere a piece of an acetate sheet to the back side of the snowflake panel, making sure that the entire oval opening was covered. I added foam tape on top of the acetate (still on the back side of the card), around the opening of the oval and along the edges of the card.
Placing the sentiment panel face up, I poured some Icicle Sequins in the center of the panel. Then I removed the release paper from the Arctic panel and adhered it over the sentiment panel, making sure that the sequins were within the ornament window area. To finish up, I adhered Santa and his reindeer, added a bow made out of silver thread, and adhered the card front to a card base.
Thank you so much for visiting! You’re next stop is Amy Kolling. Be sure to read below for information about the giveaway and for the full blog hop list.
