Hi there, I hope your week is going well!
I feel like I haven’t made a card in ages! But while it’s true that I haven’t made one of my own design and in my own craft space since last week, I did have the opportunity to make dozens of cards at Simon Says Create over the weekend. If you ever have the opportunity to go to a crafty event with card-makers, I encourage you to go. There is nothing like being in a room full of people who share your passion for ink and small pieces of paper!
I used Hero Arts Intense Black ink to stamp the bunch of flowers (that’s one big stamp, y’all, no masking!) from the Concord and 9th Fine Line Florals stamp set onto an A2-sized piece of Neenah Solar White 80# Classic Crest cardstock. I had intended to color the flowers with Copics but I realized I might not have enough time since I still have quite a bit of prep work to do for a meeting in the morning. Don’t you hate it when work gets in the way of crafting?!
So instead of coloring, I pulled out some beautiful Catherine Pooler inks to use with the coordinating fill-in stamps. I used Bellini, Coral Cabana, and Be Mine.
To add a bit of glossy dimension, I used a black Sakura Glaze pen to add dots to the centers of the flowers, and to their anthers (I had to Google that, biology was too many decades ago for me to remember!).
For the sentiment, I used Wow! Embossing Pad and white Hero Arts embossing powder to emboss “happy birthday” and “friend”, from the same stamp set, onto black 110# Recollections cardstock. I trimmed the sentiment strips, snipping “happy birthday” in half and then adhered them to the cardfront with foam tape.
I used Copic N7 to add a few dots here and there, especially in the top left corner to help balance the heaviness of the sentiment in the bottom right corner. To finish, I adhered the card front to an A2-sized card base.
Thank you so much for visiting!
Seeka I’m so glad to know you had a wonderful time… I hope to be able to attend next year – hope you do, and that you’ll still have me as a roomie?
LOve this gorgeous spray of blooms – especially that big ‘poppy’ with the lines! Pretty colors, perfect details, my friend!

Most definitely, Michele! I’m hoping to be back in the Midwest again later this year for crafty stuff so I’m keeping my fingers crossed that I won’t have to wait until the next Create to meet you!
