Hi there, I hope you’ve had a good day!
I had a rough day and so I chose this heart and sentiment for myself (we’re allowed to make cards for ourselves, right?). I also chose to do very quick and simple coloring since I’m exhausted from stress and have been dying to crawl into bed almost from the moment I crawled out. Do you ever have days like that?
I started by removing the center heart of the Simon Says Stamp Center Cut Heart background stamp and positioning it in a Misti stamping tool, over an A2-sized piece of Neenah Solar White 80# Classic Crest cardstock.
I used Copic-friendly Hero Arts Intense Black ink to stamp the heart and then used B32, B34, B37, and B39 to color in the image. When I finished coloring, I decided to re-stamp the heart in a darker black ink so I’m glad that I had left the heart in the Misti. For this second round of stamping, I used Versafine Clair Nocturne ink.
While the ink was drying, I worked on the sentiment which is from Simon Says Stamp’s You Got This stamp set. I used Wow! Embossing Pad and white Hero Arts embossing powder to heat emboss the sentiment onto 110# black Recollections cardstock. I trimmed the sentiment strip and then backed it with foam tape. After I removed the release paper, I had that too-familiar twinge of dread as I worried about whether or not I’d position the sentiment correctly on the first try (I hate trying to pull up foam tape!) but a light bulb went off and I remember seeing Jennifer McGuire add a bit of liquid glue to foam tape before positioning which buys you some adjustment time. So, I added some small dabs of glue and was able to get the sentiment centered with ease. Phew!
To finish the card, I adhered the card front to an A2-sized card base.
Thanks so much for coming by!
I think we should all make cards for ourselves… they would say only the words that help us get through days like this. Yes. I have them, too. I hope tomorrow/today is so incredibly awesome that you forget about what made your heart blue! xx
