Hi there, I hope you’re having a lovely weekend!
I’m playing a bit of catch up with blog posts so please forgive me if you get a few emails today! It ended up being a busier weekend than I’d expected and, to be honest, there were a couple of extra naps, too 🙂
I started by heat embossing the flowers from the Essentials By Ellen Mondo Hydrangea stamp set in gold Ranger Ultra Fine embossing powder onto an A2-sized piece of Strathmore Bristol Smooth cardstock.
I smooshed a few Distress Oxide inks onto my work surface, added a bit of clean clear water with a small paint brush, and then started coloring. I used Antique Linen, Shabby Shutters, and Twisted Citron for the petals, and Mowed Lawn and Peeled Paint for the stems.
I stamped the sentiment, from the same stamp set, in Versafine Clair Nocturne ink and then realized that it felt way too dark compared to the flowers. To offset this heaviness at the bottom of the card, I trimmed off a strip of the top of the card and added a strip of black cardstock. If I were to do it again, I might use a lighter ink for the sentiment, or perhaps heat emboss the sentiment on vellum and lay it over the flowers.
To finish the card, I adhered it to an A2-sized card base.
Thanks so much for coming by!
