Hi there, I hope you’re having a wonderful day!
I’m still nursing a sick kitty so for today’s card I kept it simple, using the same design that I used a couple of weeks ago, but switching up the colors, the die cut, and the sentiment.
I started with an A2-sized of Strathmore Bristol Smooth cardstock and masked off a square that was slightly larger than the die cut I planned to use. Then I used foam blending tools to blend Seedless Preserves, Picked Raspberry, and Spiced Marmalade Distress Inks into the square. These colors were inspired by Gayatri on Instagram. She has shared a number of beautiful color blends and this card is based off blend #11 which includes five colors. I pared it down to three colors since I had such a small area to color.
One thing I learned this time around is that while Bristol Smooth is great for blending, I had a hard time blending on one color without wiping off the previous color. To combat this, I used a pouncing motion where the colors overlap. This also gave me much more saturated color than I get with the blending motion I usually use.
While the ink was drying, I die cut the floral frame (from the Floral Squares die set from Pinkfresh Studio) four times from white 110# Recollections cardstock. I stacked and adhered them together and then adhered it over the inked square.
I used Versafine Clair Nocturne ink to stamp the sentiment, from the Bird With Flowers stamp set from Pinkfresh Studio, and then adhered the card front to an A2-sized card base to finish.
Thanks very much for visiting!
Hi, we met at the Salt Lake City Concord & 9th Kathy Racoosin Coloring Roadtrip in August and I have been following you since then. Love your simple cards and while I mostly follow card makers on YouTube, I now follow your blog. Made this card as a Thank You card last night. Came out really well. Thanks for the inspirations!
