Hi there, I hope you’re having a great week!
Today I’m playing with watercolors and this beautiful spray of flowers from Altenew.
I have been seeing a lot of watercolored cards lately, especially since Altenew’s release of their new watercolor pan set. I don’t have that set so I pulled out my Mijello Mission Gold set to play with.
I started by stamping and heat embossing the spray of flowers in Versafine Onyx Black ink and Hero Arts Super Fine embossing powder, which is clear, onto an A2-sized piece of watercolor paper. This stamp is from Altenew’s Blooming Bouquet stamp set.
Then, using just a few colors from my watercolor set: Red Violet, Bright Clear Violet, Sap Green, and Hooker’s Green. Since I’m not very experienced with watercolor (and, let’s face it, I’m impatient), I like heat embossing detailed images like this because it makes it really easy to stay inside the lines. I started with light color first and then as the piece dried I went in and added more concentrated color in small areas to mimic shading.
The sentiment is from Altenew’s Needlework Motif stamp set. I heat embossed it using VersaMark ink and Hero Arts white embossing powder onto a strip of black 110# Recollections cardstock. I added foam tape to the back for dimension and adhered it to the card front. Then to finish, I adhered the card front to an A2-sized card base.
Thanks so much for coming by!
I love the effect with the heat embossed outline and the watercolour, such a pretty card x
