Happy Holidays | Hero Arts October 2021 Release Blog Hop + Giveaway

Hello and welcome, I’m so glad you’re here! It’s release day at Hero Arts and we’re celebrating the October release with a blog hop full of inspiration and a giveaway. If you’ve arrived from visiting the amazing Mindy Eggen, you’re right on track. If you’d like to start from the beginning, head on over to the Hero Arts blog.

This month’s My Monthly Hero kit includes a cover frame die that creates a beautiful wall that can be interpreted as an exterior wall or the interior wall of a luxurious room! Also included are a 6″x8″ stamp set, coordinating dies, colored cardstock, acetate sheets, and glitter, all for only $34.99!

My first card today features the kit, plus a couple of trees made using the new Christmas Tree Pieces die set. I really like the idea of using the cover die in this set as an interior wall; you’re invited in and today we’re having a feast!

To recreate this card:

  1. Create an elongated dining table using the small table stamp in the stamp set (I used a stamp positioning tool to make this easy); ink up only the left side of the table in Copic-friendly Intens-ified Black Ink and stamp onto Dove White cardstock
  2. Clean the stamp well
  3. Shift the cardstock in the stamp positioning tool a few inches and then ink up only the right side of the table and stamp again; now you have two ends of a long table
  4. Use a ruler and a Copic-friendly black ink pen (I used a Copic 0.3 Multiliner) draw five lines connecting the two ends of the table
  5. Use the coordinating die and the partial die cutting technique to selectively cut only the ends of the tables; the partial die cutting technique involves letting anything you don’t want to be cut by the die to hang off the edge of the die cutting plate so that no pressure is applied to it
  6. Use a metal straight edge and a craft knife to cut along the pen lines you drew in; now your table is complete
  7. Stamp, color, and die cut the rest of the images; set aside
  8. Die cut the wall out of Dove White cardstock, stamp the sentiment in Onyx pigment ink at the top of the panel; set aside
  9. Cut a 4.25″ x 5.5″ panel of Mist cardstock; use a blending brush to blend Aquatic ink over the top of the panel, letting the color faded out towards the center of the panel
  10. Use a blending brush to blend Grape Juice ink at the very top of the panel, to deepen the blue sky
  11. Splatter the background with an opaque white paint to create snow
  12. Die cut a tree from Meadow cardstock using the Christmas Tree Pieces die set and use a blending brush to add a bit of Pine ink to the tips of the branches
  13. Cut the three in roughly in half, vertically
  14. Adhere the two tree pieces to the sides of the background sky panel
  15. Adhere the white wall over the background
  16. Adhere the table over the wall and then adhere the other images, popping some up with foam tape
  17. Finish by adhering the card front to a card base

My second card is a quick and easy card featuring the Christmas Tree Pieces die set.

To recreate this card:

  1. Die cut a tree from Meadow cardstock and use a blending brush to add a bit of Pine ink to the tips of the branches
  2. Die cut ornaments from Paradise and Azalea cardstocks; set aside
  3. Die cut garlands from Dove White cardstock; press them into a Clear Embossing & Watermark ink pad and then cover with White Puff embossing powder. Melt the embossing powder and then set the garlands aside
  4. Die cut the star from silver glitter cardstock from the Holiday Sparkle cardstock pack; set aside
  5. Cut a 4.25″ x 5.5″ piece of Mist cardstock
  6. Use a blending brush to blend Aquatic ink over the corners of the panel, letting the color fade towards the center of the panel
  7. Splatter the background with an opaque white paint to create snow
  8. Adhere the tree to the background; then adhere the star, garlands, and ornaments
  9. Stamp the sentiment, from the new Christmas Carolers stamp set, onto a strip of Dove White cardstock and adhere the strip to the card front
  10. Adhere the card front to a card base

  1. Thank you for providing the detail on how you created the great dining table! Love how truly abundant you made the feast – including a feast for our eyes! 🙂 The tree and its pretty aqua backdrop with the delicate sprinkling of white is lovely too!
