You Are A Treasure | Altenew Build-A-Flower: Laelia Release Blog Hop + Giveaway

Hello there! We’re celebrating the release of the new Altenew Build-A-Flower: Laelia Release! If you arrived from Amanda Baldwin‘s blog, you’re right on track. I love this month’s bloom for its loose and flowy petals, and the overall size of the blooms which fill a card front nicely!

I started by stamping the outline layer of the blooms and leafy stems in Permanent Black ink onto Neenah Solar White 80# Classic Crest cardstock. Next, I stamped the layers of the blooms in Pink Pearl, Coral Bliss, Heart Beat, and Vineyard Berry (also available as a bundle). I didn’t stamp the small centers of the flowers because I like the extra white space.

Then, I stamped the leafy stems in Misty Moor, Marshland, and Sea Forest (also available as part of a bundle) and then used the coordinating dies to cut out all of the images. I also used the silhouette stamps in the set to stamp extra leaves in Misty Moor and cut those out as well.

For the background, I used Post-it Tape to mask of the borders of an A2-sized piece of white cardstock. To create a rough and organic edge, I tore along the edge of the tape. Then, using a large blending tool, I blended a bit of Morning Frost ink over the unmasked area.

I assembled the card by adhering the blooms and leaves using a combination of glue, glue dots, and foam tape to give varying dimension, and then trimmed off anything having over the borders of the panel. To finish, I stamped the sentiment in black pigment ink and then adhered the card front to a card base.
