Hello and welcome!
Today we’re celebrating the release of the Altenew Craft-A-Flower: California Giants release! If you arrived from Tina Smith‘s blog, you’re right on track. If you want to hop along from the beginning, visit the Altenew Card Blog. Check the bottom of this post for giveaway information and the full blog hop list.
I started of by choosing two peachy/coral colors of cardstock for the giant bloom, a yellow and orange for its center, and three greens for its leaves (cardstock colors are noted at the bottom of the post).
I adhered the layers together; like layering stamping, putting the lighter layer as the bottom layer means that you can add the illusion of depth as you add darker layers on top (but you could try the reverse and get some cool effects, too!).
I created the sentiment by cutting the detail layer out of the same darker color that I used for the bloom, and by cutting the shadow layer from white cardstock. I adhered the two layers together, slightly offsetting the two pieces.
Next, I created the background by using masking paper to mask off the borders of an A2-sized piece of white cardstock. Using a large blending tool, I blended Aqualicious ink over the exposed area, concentrating the color at the bottom of the panel and letting it fade a bit towards the top.
To assemble the card, I adhered the bloom with foam tape and then tucked in and adhered the leaves underneath. To finish, I used more foam tape to adhere the sentiment and then I adhered the card front to a card base.
Thank you so much for visiting! Your next stop is Keren Baker. Be sure to check below for information about the giveaway and for the full blog hop list!
