You Are My Zen | Altenew Build-A-Flower: Indian Lotus Release Blog Hop + Giveaway

Hi there, I hope you’re having a lovely day!

We’re celebrating the Altenew Build-A-Flower: Indian Lotus Release! I really like this month’s bloom for the white space on the petals and the interesting textures in the images.

If you arrived from Sandhya Iyer’s blog, you’re right on track. If you want to hop along from the beginning, visit the Altenew Blog. Check the bottom of this post for the full blog hop list and information about the great giveaway!

I started off by stamping the outline images for the blooms and the lotus pad in Permanent Black Crisp Dye ink onto Neenah Solar White 80# Classic Crest cardstock. Next, I stamped the three layers of the blooms in Rose Quartz, Puffy Heart, and Purple Wine Crisp Dye inks (these three colors are also available as part of a set). Then, I stamped the two layers of the lotus pad in Lime and Fresh Leaf. I used the coordinating dies to cut out the images and then I set them aside.

For the background, I used a large Ink Blending Tool to blend Aqualicious ink onto the bottom third of a 4.25″ x 5.5″ panel of Neenah, letting the color quickly fade up to white. I trimmed the panel down to 4″ x 5.25″. I prefer to trim after I blend so that any darker ink buildup at the edges of the panel gets trimmed away. Then, I flicked some delicate blue splatter directly from a Lagoon Watercolor Marker (available as part of the Winter Wonderland set).

I stamped the sentiment in black pigment ink and then began assembling the card. I glued the lotus pad directly to the background and then used a combination of adhesive dots and foam tape to adhere the lotus at the rear. The glue dots are towards the bottom of the bloom (to reduce height beneath where the second bloom will be adhered) while the foam tape is behind the tips of the petals. Next, I used foam tape to adhere the lotus in the foreground.

To finish, I used foam tape to adhere the card front to an A2-sized card base.

Thank you so much for visiting! Your next stop in the hop is Teresa Litchfield, and be sure to read below for information about the giveaway and for the full blog hop list.

  1. This is just perfect!!! The blue blend in the background looks just like water, and the color combo for the lily pad & lotus are so bright and cheerful ❤️
