Hi there, I hope you’re having a great day!
Today’s card uses a beautiful background stamp and sentiment from Simon Says Stamp paired with some heat embossing and watercoloring with Zig Clean Color Real Brush pens.
I started by stamping and heat embossing the Cosmos Bloom background stamp onto Canson XL Watercolor paper. For the heat embossing, I used Versafine Claire Nocturne ink and clear Hero Arts embossing powder. I find using a black pigment ink and clear embossing powder is less messy than using black embossing powder.
Then, I used a few Zig pens to add color to the flowers, concentrating the color at the center of the flowers and pulling it out with a waterbrush pen filled with clean clear water. I used Geranium Red on the outside edge of each petal and Scarlet Red for the inner areas of each petal. Then I used Mid Green and Pale Green for the leaves. I decided to leave the centers of the blooms and the areas between the flowers uncolored, to maintain a pop of white here and there.
I used the same ink and embossing powder to heat emboss a sentiment from the Greetings Mix 1 stamp set onto a piece of My Favorite Things Heavyweight Translucent Vellum. This thick vellum is very sturdy and holds it shape while still allowing the background to peek through a bit. I applied tiny dots of glue behind some of the letters and then adhered the sentiment to the background, weighing it down with an acrylic block until the glue dried.
To finish, I adhered the card front to an A2-sized card base.
Thank you so much for visiting!
