Happy Birthday

Hi there, I hope you’re having a good day!

When I was in Seattle over the weekend I had the opportunity to pick up my order from Ellen Hutson in person.  I was so excited to get to meet her and the team in person, and also so happy that this beautiful floral from Waffle Flower Crafts was part of my order.  It was hard to come home to reality, but knowing that I’d get to color these flowers helped soften the blow ;p

I started by stamping the largest floral from the Waffle Flower Magnolia stamp set in Copic-friendly Hero Arts Intense Black ink onto an A2-sized piece of Neenah Solar White 80# Classic Crest cardstock.

Then, I used R0000, R00, R30, R02, and YR02 to color the flowers.  There’s actually a bit more shading to the card than comes through in the photos, but the shades are very light so that quite a bit of white remains. I added a bit of Y38 to the center of the open flower and then used G40, G43, and G24 to color the leaves. To add drop shadows, I added W0, W02, and W03.

I stamped the sentiment in Versafine Clair Nocturne ink onto a scrap piece of Neenah and then trimmed it down.  I love how detailed this stamp and I can’t believe how much it looks like one of those old-school embossed labels!  I backed the sentiment strip with foam tape and adhered it to the card front and to finish off the card, I adhered the card front to an A2-sized card base.

Thanks so much for visiting!
