Happy Monday, lovelies, I hope you had a wonderful weekend!
Today I’m sharing another card using the Mondo Sakura stamp set, designed by Julie Ebersole for the Essentials by Ellen line at Ellen Hutson. I’ve paired it with sentiments from the Totally Random Sayings Vol. 2, which is from the same line.
I started by stamping the large flower spray in Copic-friendly Gina K. Amalgam Black ink onto an A2-sized piece of Neenah Solar White #80 Classic Crest cardstock. Then, I went to town coloring using RV63, RV66, and RV69 for the flowers, and BG72, BG75, and BG78 for the leaves and stems. When I finished, I added a drop shadow using W1 and W3.
Unlike last time, when I stamped both the scripty and bold sentiment at the same time and then didn’t like the resulting spacing between, I first stamped the “friend” sentiment and then stamped the “thanks” sentiment separately. I used Versafine Onyx Black ink for both.
Because part of the “friend” sentiment is stamped directly over the coloring, I felt there wasn’t enough contrast to make it easily readable. So, using a trick I learned from an online class that Kelly Latevola taught, I used a white Sakura Gelly Roll pen to add a white outline to the “n” and the “d.” I also went back in with a fine black Copic Multiliner pen to tidy up where I accidentally got white over the letters.
Lastly, I used a gold Metallic Sakura Gelly Roll pen to add details to the tips of the stamen. I adhered the card front to an A2-sized card base and that finished up today’s card.
Thanks so much for coming by!
Lovely!! Pure joy reading your posts and seeing the creations!!
