Thank You Cards

Thanks – Take Two – Simon Says Stamp Flickr Challenge #102

Hello there, I hope you’re having a great weekend!

Today I’m sharing the second card that I made as the guest designer for the latest Simon Says Stamp Flikr Challenge.  Be sure to check out the challenge post to learn how to participate in this week’s challenge which is “Favorite Technique.”  This card features the Circle Doodles Background stamp and the Big Thanks dies from Simon Says Stamp.

I started by using VersaMark ink and Hero Arts white embossing powder to heat emboss the background stamp onto a just-larger-than A2-sized piece of Canson XL Watercolor paper.  Then I used painter’s tape to tape down the panel to my work surface.

Using a flat brush, I thoroughly wet the panel with clean clear water. I then used a few colors from Peerless Watercolors to watercolor the circles.  I used Daffodil Yellow, Orange Yellow, and Jaqueminot Red.  I added a bit of the Orange Yellow to some areas of the Jaqueminot Red circles to tone down the pink, which I didn’t expect to be quite so bright! When the panel was dry, I trimmed it down to 4″ x 5.25″

I die cut the sentiment from scrap white cardstock and the shadow layer from vellum.  I added small dots of glue to the back of the sentiment behind the white layer so that it wouldn’t show through from the front, and then adhered it to the background.

To finish, I adhered the card front to an A2-sized card base.

Thank you so much for visiting!
