You Are Flocking Fabulous

Hi there, I hope you had a wonderful holiday yesterday!

Today’s card features the Flock Yeah! stamp set from WPlus9.  I’ve also used the Floral Fantasy background stamp from My Favorite Things.

I created the background by blending three Distress Oxide inks (Twisted Citron, Cracked Pistachio, and Peacock Feathers) onto an A2-sized piece of Neenah Solar White #80 Classic Crest cardstock.  Then, using a Distress Sprayer, I spritzed the background stamp ten times from about a foot away.  I carefully dabbed away any droplets of water and then turned the stamp onto the background.  I put a book over it to weight it down and waited about thirty seconds before I carefully lifted it away.  The result is a patterned background.  I did use a heat gun to gently dry the panel as I wanted to try to keep the water-stamped image as crisp as possible.

I stamped the palm trees and flamingo image in Gina K. Designs Amalgam Black ink onto the same cardstock.  I colored with Copics, using R30, R20, R22, and R24 for the flamingo’s feathers and R81 for its legs and part of its bill.  The palm tree leaves are a blend of YG21, YG23, YG17, and G28 and the tree trunks are E31 and E35.

I cut out the image using a Brother ScanNCut2.  The ScanNCut2 did not cut out the areas between the tree trunks, between the flamingo’s legs, or between its bill and neck, so I used a Xacto knife to cut out those areas so that more background would show through.

I laid out my pieces to figure out where to stamp the sentiment which I stamped in Versafine Onyx Black ink.  Then I adhered the palm trees flush to the background and popped up the flamingo with foam tape for dimension.

Finally, I adhered the card front to an A2-sized card base and that finished up today’s card.

Thanks so much for visiting!
