Hello there!
I’ve been drawn to water-themed cards lately and today’s no exception. I used the Stay Cool stamp set from Waffle Flower Crafts to make this quick and easy card. I like to think that the bear is floating in a swimming pool.
I love to make block watercolor stamped backgrounds and so I had an extra blue background that I made for another card last week. You can read about how I made the background here.
For the sweet bear, I stamped his image using Copic-friendly Hero Arts Intense Black ink onto the same Canson XL watercolor paper background that I used for the background. When I was sure that the ink was good and dry, especially the polka dots, I used Copics to color the bear and his swim trunks. I used E31 and E35 for his fur and Y35, Y38, and YR68 for his trunks. I shaded so that the darker areas were towards the bottom which I know doesn’t make sense since he’s supposed to be floating in a pool, but I figured anyone looking at a bear wearing sunglasses and swimming trunks will have already guessed that we’ve thrown reality out the window ;p
I cut out the bear with a Brother ScanNCut 2 and set him aside while I stamped the sentiment on the background in Versafine Black Onyx ink. Then I adhered the background onto an A2-sized card base. To finish the card, I added foam tape to the back of the bear and adhered him to the card.
