Deep Sea Peek-A-Boo | Hero Arts July 2020 My Monthly Hero Blog Hop + Giveaway

Hero Arts - 2020-07-13

Hi there, I hope you had a good weekend! If you’ve arrived from Nichole Spohr’s blog, you’re right on track!

It’s release day at Hero Arts and this month we’re headed under the sea! Today’s card features the new Deep Sea Background cling stamp which can be perfectly paired the older Peek-A-Boo Doors Fancy Die and the new Deep Sea Messages stamp set to create a cute interactive card. Make sure you check out the entire July collection!

I started by stamping the Deep Sea Background cling stamp in Copic-friendly Intens-ified Black Ink onto an A2-sized piece of Neenah Solar White 80# Classic Crest cardstock. Then I colored with a random selection of Copics. Because the images are small, I didn’t spend much time coloring or worrying about smooth blending 🙂 I used the Peek-A-Boo Doors Fancy Die to cut little doors into the panel and then set it aside.

Next, I quickly and loosely swiped the same blue markers that I’d used for the water over another A2-sized piece of Neenah. Using my stamped image, with its doors, as a guide, I stamped the little images from the Deep Sea Messages stamp set onto my new panel so that they would be revealed when the doors were opened.

To assemble the card, I added glue to the back of the die-cut panel, making sure to avoid the doors. I adhered the die-cut panel over the second panel, and then adhered the combined piece onto an A2-sized card base.

Thank you so much for coming by! Your next stop is Yana Smakula. Be sure to check out the Giveaway information below, where you’ll also find the full blog hop list.

  1. I’m glad to see a peekaboo card! I was having trouble imagining what it would look like. I really like the soft colors you used – I think bold colors would be too overwhelming with the doors all over.

  2. You coloring is beautiful and I thought it was very creative to use the Copics you used for the water inside the peek-a-book windows, making the water an element inside the windows. Brilliant! Thank you for sharing!
