Happy Birthday | Hero Arts June 2021 Release Blog Hop + Giveaway

Hello there, I’m so glad you’re here! It’s release day at Hero Arts and we’re celebrating the June release with a blog hop full of inspiration and a giveaway. This month’s theme is Birthdays! If you’ve arrived from Pocono Pam’s blog, you’re right on track. If you’d like to start from the beginning, head on over to the Hero Arts blog.

Happy Birthday – My Monthly Hero Kit

For my first card today I used the fun new My Monthly Hero kit. Along with the stamps and dies, month’s kit includes confetti embellishments, a Sparkle Lacquer Pen, and a Light Mint ink cube. It’s a $72 value for only $34.99!

I started off by stamping the pup, gifts, and cake in Copic-friendly Intens-ified Black ink onto Dove White cardstock. I colored the pup using E15, E17, and E18 for his spots, R21 for his tongue and paw pads, and a black Sakura Glaze pen for his nose. For the presents, I used E51, Y23, and YR21, with R21, R22, and R14 for the ribbon. And for the cake, I used RV55, RV09, and E51, with a bit of W2 for the plate. I cut out the images with the coordinating dies and set them aside.

Next, I stamped the sentiment and fussy cut it out.

The background was one I made last week using Distress Paints. For this marbled look, I added a few drops of Picked Raspberry, Abandoned Coral, and Scattered Straw paints to my non-stick work surface and then misted both the paints and an A2-sized piece of Dove White cardstock with clean clear water. I dragged the cardstock through the paint and then set it aside to dry.

To assemble the card, I trimmed 3/8″ off both the length and width of the background and then adhered the pile of gifts in a rough pyramid. Then I adhered the pup, flying gift, and cake with foam tape. I finished by adhering the sentiment with foam tape and adhering the card front to a card base.

Happy Birthday – Birthday Balloons Bold Prints

My second card features the new Birthday Balloons Bold Prints background stamp with a sentiment using the new Birthday Stamp & Cut XL.

I started by using Clear Embossing & Watermark Ink and White embossing powder to heat emboss the Birthday Balloons Bold Prints background stamp onto an A2-sized piece of Bristol Smooth cardstock. Next, I used blending brushes to blend Taffy and Lemon Drop Reactive Inks onto the panel, overlapping them to create a peachy orange.

Next, I used the happy birthday die from Birthday Stamp & Cut XL to cut four pieces of white cardstock. I stacked and adhered the layers together to create a dimensional piece.

I used Precision Glue to adhere the die cut to the background, adhered the background to a card base, and then added Crystal Clear Lacquer over the sentiment to add shine. I set the card aside for several hours to allow the lacquer to dry.

  1. Hi, Seeka – Love both cards! I especially like your creative arrangement of the dog diving toward the cake and / or over the pile of gifts. Superb!

  2. So cute. Looks like that puppy wants that cake and forget about the boxes! I love the balloon stencil for a background.
