You’re One Of A Kind | Hero Arts July 2021 Release Blog Hop + Giveaway

Hi there and welcome! It’s release day at Hero Arts and we’re celebrating the July release with a blog hop full of inspiration and a giveaway. This month’s theme is Magical Forest and the My Monthly Hero kit is so sweet and such a great deal at only $34.99! If you’ve arrived from Mindy Eggen’s blog, you’re right on track. If you’d like to start from the beginning, head on over to the Hero Arts blog.

You’re One Of A Kind

For my first card today, I began by stamping a variety of images from the kit in Copic-friendly Intens-ified Black ink onto Dove White cardstock. I colored the green leaves in YG01, YG03, and YG25, the reds flowers, door, hat, and pants in R21, R22, and R35, the gnome’s blue outfit in B21, B23, and B26, and the lillies of the valley in Y11. For the gnome’s house, I used E33, E35, and E27. I used the coordinating dies to cut out the images and then set them aside.

I created the background with a few quick and light sprays of Twisted Citron and Lucky Clover Distress Spray Stains onto a 4.25″ x 5.5″ panel of Dove White. When the panel was dry, I trimmed 3/8″ off both the length and the width and then stamped the sentiment in Onyx pigment ink.

To assemble the card, I adhered the plants using glue and then adhered the gnome and his house using foam tape. Then I used more foam tape to adhere the card front to an A2-sized card base.

There’s No Place Like Gnome

For my second card, I used the new Woodgrain Bold Prints background stamp to create a tree trunk and fairy door.

I began by stamping the background in Soft Brown ink onto an A2-sized piece of Sand cardstock. Next, I trimmed about 3/4″ off the width of the panel and then used a blending brush to blend Soft Brown ink along the left and right sides of the panel. This piece is the tree trunk.

Then, I stamped the background a second time, this time in Pale Tomato ink onto Coral cardstock. I used the a die from the Fairy Doors Infinity Dies set to cut a cute little door from the panel. Because these dies create a hinged door in the panel the door is cut from, I used a craft knife to cut through inch or so that was still connected so that I could have a standalone door. Then, I used a blending brush to blend a bit of Pale Tomato ink along the sides of the door and adhered a small door handle which I cut from Pebble cardstock using a die from the same infinity die set.

Next, I used the dies from the Mushrooms and Ferns die set to cut a few ferns from Kiwi cardstock. I added a bit of shading to the ferns by blending on a bit of Moss ink.

To assemble the card, I adhered the door to the base of the tree trunk and then stamped the sentiment, from the My Monthly Hero kit, in black ink. Then, I used glue and glued ots to adhere the base of the ferns. To finish, I used foam tape to adhere the card front to an A2-sized piece of Arctic cardstock which I in turn adhered to a card base.

Thank you so much for visiting! Your next stop is the wonderful Jennifer Kotas! Be sure to read below for giveaway details as well as to view the full blog hop list.

  1. Hi, Seeka – Love your “one of a kind” card – excellent color choices and coloring skills there!! Love the splattery background! I also like the SMART use of the “no place like gnome” message to coordinate with that set of doors. I contemplated that when placing my order and opted to put it on my wishlist, should I be a lucky winner. Now I am thinking that I should have ordered it. Life is all choices…. I really like it and I love the variety of windows available in that die set.
Your work continues to impress at every turn!!
