Hero Arts Color Week Blog Hop + Giveaway

Hello and welcome to Hero Arts’ Color Week! We’re celebrating Hero Arts’ new Core Ink line with a blog hop and giveaway. If you’ve arrived from visiting Mindy Eggen, you’re right on track!

Hero Arts’ new Core Ink line makes adding color to your projects super easy. This essential collection is the ideal ink for your everyday stamping and cardmaking. It includes fresh new colors and popular existing formulas to create a tightly designed color system. Each Core Ink pad features a new look with a palette on the underside of the lid. And by popular demand, Hero Arts is excited to now offer matching Inkers for every color! The Hero Hues line is rounded out with cardstock, specifically selected to work well with the Core Ink spectrum.

Some details:

My project today features the brand new Mist Core Ink, the coordinating Inker and coordinating cardstock. This dye ink is a beautiful soft slate blue (in real life it’s a bit more blue in the stamped script on this card than it appears in the photo and more closely matches the ink pad cover).

I started off by creating the background panel using Mist Core Inker and heavy Dove White cardstock. Core Inkers can be used to re-ink ink pads and for many other techniques! I scattered a few drops of the ink around a small area my glass work surface and then generously misted the drops with water. This particular color separates a bit with water which is what created the look of hand-made paper speckled with color. Next, I lightly misted a 4.25″ x 5.5″ panel of cardstock with water and then I dragged the panel through the watered down ink drops. I pressed any remaining white areas back into the ink on my desk until the panel was fully covered and then used a heat gun to dry the panel (it was quite wet!). When the panel was almost dry, I put it between two clean sheets of typing paper and put a heavy book on top of it to flatten it out.

While the panel was drying, I stamped the Script Bold Prints background stamp in Mist Core Ink onto another panel of white cardstock. I trimmed this down to 3.25″ x 4.5″ and then used Onyx pigment ink to stamp images from the Floral Silhouettes stamp set onto the panel. Then I stamped a sentiment, from the Message Strips Stamp & Cut XL set. I glued the panel to a slightly larger panel of Mist cardstock and then used foam tape to adhere this layer to the background panel. To finish, I glued the card front to a card base.

  2. This is a great card. I really like script backgrounds and it goes so well with the black flowers and leaves that you put on the card. The colors were lovely. Thank you.
