Hello there! It’s release day at Hero Arts and we’re celebrating the April release with a blog hop and giveaway. If you’ve arrived from Pocono Pam’s blog, you’re right on track. If you’d like to start from the beginning, head on over to the Hero Arts blog.
This month’s kit has a geometric theme with cute silhouette images, coordinating dies, and a neat layering stencil set that can be used to create and endless variety of patterns! Add three ink cubes and a blending brush and it’s a fantastic value at $34.99 for $83 worth of fun!
To recreate this Hello card:
- Cut a 4.25″ x 5.5″ panel of Dove White cardstock
- Use Post-it Tape or other low tack tape to temporarily hold the first stencil (the one at the left of the kit image above) over the panel
- Use a blending brush (included in the kit as well as available here) to blend Pool Party Reactive ink over the stencil and onto the cardstock
- Remove the stencil and position the next stencil (the one in the middle of the image above) over the panel, aligning it over the Pool Party pattern (it took a few turns to find a position that I liked, relative to the Pool Party pattern)
- Use a blending brush to blend Splash Reactive ink over the stencil and onto the cardstock
- Remove the stencil and position the third stencil over the panel
- Shake up a bottle of Key Lime Fizz Reactive ink reinker and set aside
- Use a palette knife to scoop out a bit of Ranger Texture Paste from its jar and smoosh it onto a work surface (I reused plastic stamp packing)
- Quickly add a drop of Key Lime Fizz reinker to the Texture Paste and use the palette knife to mix until the paste is uniformly green (alternatively, smoosh some ink from a Key Lime ink pad onto work surface before step 8 and then add the Texture Paste to the smooshed ink)
- Use the palette knife to smooth the paste over the stencil and onto the cardstock
- Remove the stencil and wash it and the palette knife immediately (and rinse off the other two as well), as well as immediately clean your work surface if you didn’t use something disposable
- Set the panel aside to dry
- Stamp the cat and sentiment in Onyx Pigment ink near the bottom of another panel of Dove White cardstock
- Position the coordinating cat die over the image and then use the partial die cutting technique to cut only the top part of the image (this technique involves leaving the bottom part of the image hanging outside of the die cutting plate sandwich so that it doesn’t get cut)
- Use a craft knife to cut across the panel, just above the sentiment, skipping over where the die cut image is still connected
- Trim about 3/8″ off each side of the background panel
- Trim the sentiment/cat piece to the same width as the background panel
- Use foam tape to adhere the sentiment/cat piece to the background panel
- Use glue to adhere the card front to a just-slightly-larger piece of Pitch Black cardstock
- Use foam tape to adhere the card front to an A2-sized card base
To recreate this Happy Birthday card:
- Cut a 4.25″ x 5.5″ panel of Dove White cardstock
- Use Post-it Tape or other low tack tape to temporarily hold the stencil pictured at the center of the kit image to the panel
- Use a blending brush to blend Dandelion Bold ink through the stencil and onto the cardstock
- Remove, clean, and reposition the same stencil over the pattern you just created
- Use a blending brush to blend Soft Cantaloupe ink over the stencil and onto the cardstock
- Trim the panel using the pattern as a guide
- Use Onyx Pigment ink to stamp the sentiment onto the panel
- Use glue to adhere the panel to a slightly larger panel of Pebble cardstock
- Use foam tape to adhere the card front to an A2-sized card base
Thanks so much for coming by! Your next stop is the lovely Jennifer Kotas. Be sure to scroll down for a photo of the card I shared during the countdown, as well as for information about the giveaway and the full blog hop list.
