Just Because Cards, Sympathy Cards

Thinking Of You | Tonic Studio Poppies Blog Hop + Giveaway

Hello and happy Friday! Today, Tonic Studios is celebrating their exclusive Compassion & Poppies stamp and die release with a blog hop and giveaway. This beautiful stamp and die bundle is inspired by Maria Willis. If you’ve arrived from Mindy’s blog, you’re right on track! If you’d like to start at the beginning, head on over to visit Channin.

To start my card today, I stamped the large poppy image in Copic-friendly Hero Arts Intens-ified Black ink onto Neenah Solar White Classic Crest 80# Classic Crest cardstock. Then I colored in the petals using a selection of Copic red markers. From dark to light, they were: R89, R29, R27, R17, R24, R14, and R22. Then I colored in the stems and leaves using G14, G05, and G28. Last, I use N3, N5, and N6 to add a bit of shading to the centers of the flowers. When I finished coloring, I used the two coordinating dies to cut out the poppies. This design is versatile because while the single stamp includes five poppies, there are two separate dies so that you can separate the group of poppies into two smaller groups.

Next, I used the individual poppy stamps and the stem stamp to additional flowers in black ink onto an A2-sized panel of Neenah Solar White. Using foam tape, I adhered the two groups of poppies as well as the sentiment which I had heat embossed onto black cardstock. To finish, I adhered the card front to an A2-sized card base.

Thank you so much for coming by! Be sure to scroll down for the full blog hop list and for information about the fantastic giveaway!

  1. I would never thought to use black and white flowers in the background and then layer the colored ones on top. It made the flowers pop. I will borrow your idea. I hope that is OK.
