You’re Turtley Awesome | Hero Arts February My Monthly Hero Countdown + Giveaway

Hi there, I hope you’re having a nice weekend!

We’re counting down to tomorrow’s Hero Arts February release and I’ve got a card today that features images from the new My Monthly Hero card kit (the kit and link go live on 2/1). The tropical theme of this kit is perfect to help us get through this time of year!

I started off my card by stamping the cute little turtles in Intens-ified Black ink onto Dove White cardstock. I colored them using a few brown Copic markers (E30, E35, and E37) and then used the coordinating dies to cut them out.

Next, I stamped the mountain image towards the top of an 4.25″ x 5.5″ inch panel of Dove White cardstock. I colored the scene using some bright greens: YG05, YG07, and YG09 and then fussy cut along the top of the mountains, leaving the bottom part attached to the rest of the panel. I set this aside with the turtles.

Onto another A2-sized panel of Dove White cardstock, I ink-blended Pool Party, Splash, and Blue Hawaii Reactive inks. When the ink was dry, I splattered clean clear water over the panel, let the drops sit for a few seconds, and then blotted them up with a clean paper towel. Next, I used Clear Embossing & Watermark ink and white embossing powder to heat emboss the waterline. I fussy cut along the waterline and then set this piece aside as well.

For the sky, I blended Splash at the top of another panel of Dove White cardstock and then I prepped the sentiment by heat embossing it onto Pitch Black cardstock.

Before assembling the card, I trimmed the sky panel to 4″ x 5.25″ and then trimmed the other two panels to 4″ wide. I began by using Precision Glue to adhere the sky panel to an A2-sized card base. Next, I adhered the mountain panel with foam tape. Then, I adhered the ocean panel with glue. I finished off by adding the sentiment strip and turtles with foam tape.

  17. Your card is adorable and I love the turtles. Every time I see a card with turtles it reminds me of Finding Nemo’s turtles and the time I was at the Turtle Sanctuary in Grand Caymans.
