Just For You On Your Birthday | Altenew Build-A-Flower: Cora Louise Peony Release Blog Hop + Giveaway

Hi there and happy new year! I’m so very glad you’re here to help celebrate the new Altenew Build-A-Flower: Cora Louise Peony release! If you arrived from Terri Koszler’s blog, you’re right on track. If you want to hop along from the beginning, visit the Altenew Card Blog. Check the bottom of this post for the full blog hop list!

This gorgeous set is available in the usual stamp and die bundle, and also bundled with a beautiful set of inks. You can also subscribe so that you never miss out on the monthly Build-A-Flower release.

My first card today features the gorgeous outline stamp from the set which I heat embossed, using white embossing powder, three times onto dark pink cardstock. Next, I smooshed white pigment ink onto my glass work surface and, using a water brush pen filled with clean clear water, I watercolored each bloom with the pigment ink. I took care not to use too much water since I used regular cardstock and not watercolor paper. When the blooms were dry, I used the coordinating die to cut them out.

The background is another piece of the same pink cardstock. I heat embossed the large sentiment directly onto the panel, and the small sentiment onto a strip of cardstock.

To assemble the card, I adhered the blooms and small sentiment with foam tape and then trimmed off the parts of the blooms that were hanging off the edge. To finish, I adhered the card front to an A2-sized card base.

For my second card, I began by stamping the outline images in black ink. Next, I stamped the second, third, and fifth layers of the blooms in Pale Mauve, Amethyst, and Grape Agate Crisp Dye Inks, and the layers of the leaves in Limestone and Silver Stone. I cut the images out with the coordinating dies and set them aside.

For the background, I stamped the sentiment onto a rounded rectangle of white cardstock that I cut using the Rounded Rectangles die set. Next, I splattered watered down black gouache onto the panel. When it was dry, I used foam tape to adhere it to an A2-sized panel of white cardstock and then I arranged and adhered the flowers and leaves. To finish, I trimmed off any parts of the images that were hanging off the edge and then adhered the card front to a card base.

Thank you so much for coming by! Your next stop on the hop is my good friend, the talented Mindy Eggen!
