Happy Holidays | Hero Arts November 2020 Release Blog Hop + Giveaway

It’s release day at Hero Arts and we’re celebrating the new November release with a blog hop and giveaway.  If you’ve arrived from Mindy Eggen’s blog, you’re right on track. If you’d like to start from the beginning, head on over to the Hero Arts blog.

This month’s My Monthly Hero kit has a special feature. The six coordinating dies for the primary images cut right to the edge of the stamped image so it’s easy to die cut masks that you can use to easily stamp layered images!

Though I didn’t use masking for my cards today, I love how the coordinating dies can be used as standalone dies, too. For my first card, I used the tree die to cut five pieces of color cardstock: Arctic, Mist, Paradise, Adriatic, and Azalea. I splattered some white gouache onto the trees and set them aside to dry.

For the background, I used a blending brush to blend Pool Party Reactive ink around the edges of an 4″ x 5.25″ panel of Dove White cardstock.

To assemble the card, I adhered the ink-blended panel to an A2-sized card base and then adhered the trees with glue, glue dots, and foam tape, for varying depth. Finally, I added the stamped sentiment with foam tape.

For my next card, I positioned the small rectangular background stamp into a Misti, inked the bottom portion of it with Berry Smoothie Reactive ink, and then used a rag to dab along the border of the ink on the stamp to soften the edge. I stamped onto an A2-sized panel of Dove White cardstock and then added Grape Slush Reactive ink to the top of the image, again softening the edge with the rag, and stamped. I repeated these steps until I had the full image stamped and a nice gradient between the two colors.

Next, I stamped the snowman in Intens-ified Black ink onto another piece of white cardstock. I colored his accessories with a few Copic red-violet markers and then used the coordinating die to cut him out.

To finish, I stamped the sentiment onto the card front, adhered the snowman with foam tape, and then adhered the card front to an A2-sized card base.

Thank you so much for coming by! Be sure to check the bottom of this post for information about the giveaway, for the full hop list, and for a photo of a third card I made with the kit that I shared last week. Your next stop in the hop is Amy Kolling!

  1. I love to see ideas on how to use the kit in ways that perhaps the designer hadn’t thought of. Love the tree card, and the stamped bird card as well!

  2. Beautiful cards! Your sneak peeks were part of the reason I ordered this kit as soon as it was available. Can’t wait to get it and try these ideas.
