United We Can Do So Much | Hero Arts Unity Release Blog Hop + Giveaway

Hi there, and welcome!

If you want to hop along from the beginning, visit the Hero Arts Blog. Check the bottom of this post for the full blog hop list and information about the giveaway!

For my card today, I started by stamping these two little friends from the Kids United stamp set in Copic-friendly INTENS-ified Black ink onto Neenah Solar White cardstock. Then I used Copic markers to color them. For the girl on the left, I used E11, E33, and V15 for her skin and BV00, V15, and V17 for her dress. On the right I used E50, E21, and BV00 for her skin, and Y00, Y08, Y18, and, Y38 for her overalls. Her white shirt has a bit of T1 and T2. For both girls’ hair and their shoes, I used N2, N5, N7, and N10. And for the swing, I used E21, for the rope, and E13 and E39 for the wooden seats. When I finished coloring, I used the coordinating dies to cut them out.

Next, I used blending brushes to create a blue sky on a piece of Strathmore Bristol Smooth cardstock. I started by blending Splash Reactive Ink onto the bottom half of the panel and then I blended Blue Hawaii on the upper half, blending it into the Splash. I added a bit more depth by blending Grape Slush along the top quarter of the panel.

Next, I used the largest die from the Nesting Hearts Infinity die set to cut a heart out of an A2-sized panel of Neenah. The die was wider than the panel so I had two separate pieces remaining after I discarded the heart. Onto the bottom piece I stamped the sentiment, which is from the same Kids United set.

To assemble the card, I adhered the top of the ropes to the ink-blended background. Then I added foam tape to the top piece of heart panel and adhered it to the top of the background, hiding the tops of the rope. Then I adhered the bottom piece of the heart panel flush to the bottom of background, taking care not to accidentally adhere the girls down. I added a bit of foam tape just to the backs of their legs and pressed them down onto the panel. Finally, I adhered the card front to an A2-sized card base.

  4. Simply lovely. They look like they’re about to fly off on adventures together. I really like how you colored the hair. I can always use more ideas of how to make black hair look black instead of gray or a total blob. I also like the choice to make the girls’ clothes in complementary colors. It is lovely composition and a lovely message all at once.
