Hi there, Seeka here (@skypaperscissors on Instagram), I hope you had a nice holiday weekend!

It’s day 1 of a 2-day blog hop celebrating Honey Bee Stamps’ Hello Summer release, and oh what a release it is! If you arrived from Leanne West’s blog, you’re right on track. If you want to hop along from the beginning, visit the Honey Bee Stamps blog. Check the bottom of this post for the full blog hop list!

My first card today features the flamingos and leaves from the Birds of Paradise stamp set and coordinating dies, along with a sentiment from the Tropical Tweets stamp set.

I started by stamping all of the images in Copic-friendly Hero Arts Intense Black ink onto Neenah Solar White 80# Classic Crest cardstock. Then, I got down to coloring. The flamingos are YR0000, YR00, YR65, and R05, with W4, W6, and W9 for their beaks. The leaves are G00, G02, and G05, and the little yellow flower is Y06 and Y18. When I finished coloring, I die cut the images and set them aside.

Next, I worked on the background which is an A2-sized piece of Strathmore Bristol Smooth cardstock. Using foam blending tools, I ink-blended Abandoned Coral, Carved Pumpkin, Scattered Straw, Twisted Citron, Cracked Pistachio, and Peacock Feathers Distress Oxide inks. When the panel was dry, I stamped the two-piece sentiment in Versafine Clair Nocturne ink, masking off one part of a sentiment to leave behind “it’s your birthday.”

To assemble the card, I arranged the leaves and adhered them with Zots Bling adhesive dots. Then I adhered the flamingos with foam tap, over top. Finally, I adhered the card front to an A2-sized card base.

For my second card, I used the super cute Flip Flop Builder die set and a couple of sentiments from the Flippin’ Fabulous stamp set.

I started with the background this time, ink blending Scattered Straw and Antique Linen Distress Oxide inks for the sand, and Tumbled Glass and Mermaid Lagoon for the water. Then, I watered down some brown and blue guaches and splattered them over the panel (the brown over the sand, and the blue over the water). When the background was dry, I stamped the sentiment in Versafine Clair Nocturne ink.

Next, I used a red ink to stamp the a floral pattern (the little flower is from the Birds of Paradise stamp set) onto Neenah Solar White cardstock and colored them in with R22. Then I used dies from the Flip Flop Builder die set to cut flip flops out of the pattern I’d created. I turned the die cut straps into shimmery pink straps by heat embossing them with Wow! Embossing Pad and Wow! Taffeta Pink Embossing Glitter. The sparkle is so pretty!

To assemble the card, I adhered the straps to the flip flop soles and then adhered them to the background. I trimmed 1/8″ off each side of the panel and then adhered it to an A2-sized card base.
