Hi there, I hope you had a great weekend! After such a loooong January, can you believe how quickly February flew by? And now here we are, celebrating the new March My monthly Hero card kit and add-ons release with a blog hop and a giveaway. If you arrived from Maria Willis’ blog, you’re right on track!
This month’s kit has elements that are similar to the fantastic new Hero Scapes stamps sets that Hero Arts released last month. I just love these layered stamps. They make creating backgrounds so easy!
I started by stamping the two layers of the grassy slopes, using a light green for the more solid stamp, and a darker green for the detail layer. Stamped together, these two layers leave small white areas that resemble stones so I used a brown pencil to add a bit of shading. Then I added additional depth and detail to the grass with small flicks of a dark green Polychromos pencil. I used the coordinating die to cut out the piece and set it aside.
Next, I stamped the tree trunk in brown and added shading and texture with a brown pencil. I also added a little hollow to the tree, just in case a little critter wants to nest 😉 I stamped the two layers of the tree canopy in two shades of purple, and then added detail with a dark purple pencil. I adhered the two pieces together and set them aside to work on the background.
Onto an A2-sized piece of Strathmore Bristol Smooth, I blended four shades of Distress Oxide inks: Dried Marigold, Spun Sugar, Milled Lavender, and Tumbled Glass. These colors remind me of sunrise.
To assemble the card, I used foam tape to adhere the green slopes onto the background, and then did the same with the tree. I stamped the sentiment in black pigment ink and then adhered the card front to an A2-sized card base.
Thank you so much for coming by! Be sure to scroll to the bottom of this post for the full blog hop list and for information on how to enter for a chance to win a gift certificate to Hero Arts!
